This resolution recognizes the Asian American Law Enforcement Association (AALEA), a professional organization founded in 1983 that represents over 700 active and retired law enforcement officers in the Great Lakes Region. The resolution highlights AALEA's significant contributions, including promoting diversity within law enforcement, supporting Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, and providing community service. During the COVID-19 pandemic, AALEA demonstrated its commitment by partnering with a local church to provide food to senior housing complexes in various Asian communities. The organization has also established meaningful scholarships and awards, such as the Trooper Chong Soo Lim Scholarship honoring the first Asian American officer who died in the line of duty, the Officer Xu Meng Community Appreciation Award, and the Malcolm Woo Leadership Award.
