This bill modifies the composition and operation of the interbranch advisory committee, which is a multi-branch governmental committee designed to facilitate communication and collaboration between different parts of Washington state government. The bill increases the number of judicial branch members from eight to nine and specifies that the committee can set its own meeting schedule to discuss issues of mutual concern, including funding legislative mandates, access to justice, local concerns, courthouse security, and court technology infrastructure. The committee will continue to be composed of representatives from the legislative, executive, and judicial branches, as well as local government and court administration, with staff support provided by the administrative office of the courts. The bill also extends the committee's expiration date from January 1, 2026, to January 1, 2031, and repeals a previous section related to legislative recommendations. The committee members will include two legislators from each of the two largest caucuses in the house and senate, representatives from the governor's and attorney general's offices, local government representatives, court clerks, judicial branch members, and nonvoting members from the offices of public defense and civil legal aid.
