This bill modifies the existing Maryland law regarding specially designed vintage reproduction registration plates by removing the previous one-year sales limitation and establishing specific fees for these plates. The Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) will now be required to make these plates available for vehicles meeting certain eligibility criteria, including passenger vehicles, light trucks, historic vehicles, multipurpose vehicles, and street rods. The bill sets a $100 fee for the initial issuance of the plate and a $25 fee for each renewal. The plate will continue to resemble the black lettering on yellow background registration plate issued by the state in 1910. The fees collected will be used to cover the administration's costs and will be credited to the Gasoline and Motor Vehicle Revenue Account for distribution according to existing state laws. The changes will take effect on October 1, 2025, providing vehicle owners with more flexibility in obtaining these vintage-style registration plates.
