This bill authorizes the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) Community Corrections Division to establish a Reentry Housing Program (RHP) designed to provide housing assistance to individuals under community supervision who lack stable housing arrangements. The program can support people recently released from prison or jail, or those participating in specialized accountability courts like drug, mental health, veteran, or family courts. Certified RHP providers will offer stable housing and food access to participants, with the primary goals of stabilizing an individual's reentry process and reducing the likelihood of future criminal activity. The department will identify and reimburse these certified providers on a monthly basis for up to six months, with the specific reimbursement amount depending on the participant's assigned tier level. A parole officer will actively monitor each program participant to ensure compliance with probation or parole conditions and provide support for successful community reintegration.
