This bill aims to facilitate law enforcement and corrections agency accreditation by establishing several key initiatives. The Criminal Justice Training Commission is authorized to provide incentive awards of up to $50,000 to law enforcement and corrections agencies that receive accreditation from recognized state or national accrediting entities during the 2023-2025 biennium, with the intention of continuing and expanding these awards in future budgets. The bill also requires WASPC to report its findings and recommendations to the legislature by December 1, 2026, with the goal of developing mechanisms to support and encourage more agencies to pursue accreditation, ultimately improving overall law enforcement and corrections standards.
