This bill requires persons aged 16 or 17 to wear a helmet when riding a class one or class two bicycle with electric assist. If a person violates this new requirement, they can be fined up to fifty dollars, but the court may waive the fine if the individual purchases or obtains a helmet before their court appearance, or if the court determines that economic hardship prevented them from acquiring a helmet.
