This bill allows assisted living homes and centers in Arizona to offer mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) to their residents under specific conditions. The therapy can only be provided using a class II mild hyperbaric oxygen chamber registered with the FDA for home use, and residents must be able to exit the chamber independently. The bill requires that such therapy be ordered by a physician and supervised by a staff member trained by the device manufacturer. Facilities must provide residents with a notice explaining that the FDA has approved the device only for treating mild symptoms of acute mountain sickness and that other uses are considered off-label. The notice must also inform residents about potential contraindications and risks, and recommend consulting their physician. For residents requiring directed care services, the therapy can only be offered with the treating physician's order and the resident's or their representative's informed consent. The Arizona Department of Health is authorized to adopt rules to implement these requirements, ensuring safe and regulated use of mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy in assisted living facilities.
