This bill establishes mandatory charity care requirements for nonprofit hospitals with annual revenues of at least $20 million and county hospitals in Indiana, effective July 1, 2025. The legislation creates a tiered approach to providing financial assistance for patients not covered by Medicaid or Medicare based on their household income relative to the federal poverty level. For patients with household incomes up to 200% of the federal poverty level, hospitals must provide free healthcare treatment and services.
