This bill authorizes the New York City water board to provide a 10 percent discount on water bills for two specific groups: senior citizens and veterans. For the purposes of this bill, a "senior citizen" is defined as a New York City resident who is 65 years or older, and a "veteran" is defined as a city resident who served in and received an honorable or general discharge from the United States military branches, including the army, navy, air force, marine corps, coast guard, and their reserves, as well as the army national guard, air national guard, New York guard, or New York naval militia. The water board is granted the authority to create and implement rules and regulations necessary to execute this discount program.
