This bill establishes the Task Force on Rangeland Wildfire Resilience and Risk Reduction, a nine-member group composed of representatives appointed by the Senate President, House Speaker, and Governor, with expertise in rangeland wildfire management. The task force's primary responsibilities include developing a strategic action plan to address current and anticipated rangeland fire threats in Oregon, creating recommendations for responding to wildfire impacts on communities and ecosystems, and examining several key areas such as integration with Oregon's 20-Year Landscape Resiliency Strategy, potential funding mechanisms, existing prevention and mitigation programs, and opportunities to improve coordination between wildfire management services. The task force will explore ways to expand prescribed grazing as a wildfire resilience strategy and must submit a report with potential legislative recommendations by December 15, 2026. Members will serve as volunteers without compensation, and the State Forestry Department will provide administrative support. The task force is required to have its first meeting within 90 days of the Act's effective date, and the entire task force will be automatically repealed on December 31, 2026. The bill will take effect 91 days after the 2025 regular legislative session adjourns.
