This bill modifies the existing Veterans Dental Program in Oregon by adding a new requirement that dental care organizations and individual oral health care providers must complete an intake screening with a veteran enrollee within 60 days after the veteran first contacts the provider. The program, which is administered by the Oregon Health Authority, provides oral health care to eligible veterans who are Oregon residents, have income at or below 400 percent of the federal poverty guidelines, and are ineligible for medical assistance. Currently, the program allows veterans to receive dental care services without copayments or cost-sharing, comparable to those provided to medical assistance recipients. The bill also reinforces existing program requirements, such as prescribing a simple application process, providing applicant assistance, and accepting specific documentation like federal DD Form 214 or 215 as proof of veteran status. The bill will take effect on the 91st day following the adjournment of the 2025 regular legislative session.
