This bill directs the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) to conduct a comprehensive review of an existing survey regarding academic assessments administered by school districts. Specifically, the bill requires ODE to identify and correct any incomplete or inaccurate information in the survey by requesting school districts to resubmit corrected data and providing assistance to ensure accuracy. The department must then update its report to include recommendations and best practices for surveying teachers and classified school employees about the time spent planning, preparing, and administering academic assessments, as well as their perceived usefulness of these assessments. The updated report must be submitted to the State Board of Education and an interim legislative education committee by December 15, 2026. The bill includes a provision that automatically repeals the section of the bill on January 2, 2027, effectively sunsetting the requirements after the report is submitted. This legislation appears to be a follow-up to a previous law from 2022 that initiated the original survey, with the goal of improving the quality and understanding of academic assessment practices in Oregon schools.
