This bill modifies Oregon law regarding the substitution of biological products (complex medical treatments derived from living organisms) by pharmacists. The bill also preserves requirements for pharmacists to communicate the specific biological product dispensed to the prescribing practitioner through electronic systems or other communication methods within five business days. Additionally, the bill keeps provisions requiring the State Board of Pharmacy to maintain a link to the current list of interchangeable biological products and to adopt rules defining key terms like "biological product" and "interchangeable" consistent with federal standards. These changes aim to streamline the process of biological product substitution while maintaining important safeguards for patient care.
