This resolution honors the memory of Franklin Dewey Shaffer, a Lawrenceburg resident who was a successful entrepreneur, lawyer, and community member. Born in 1948 in Corpus Christi, Texas, Shaffer graduated from Lawrence County High School and later earned degrees from Middle Tennessee State University and the University of Texas School of Law. He began his career as an assistant district attorney in Texas, later taking over his family's muffler shop business and eventually founding Shaffer Farms Custom Meats and Texas Bar-B-Q in Tennessee, which became a popular local restaurant. Shaffer was known for his innovative businesses, including an exotic deer farm and a collection of exotic cats, and was deeply committed to his faith and family. The resolution, passed by the Tennessee General Assembly, aims to remember Shaffer's contributions to his community, express condolences to his family, which includes his wife Brenda, children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and great-grandson, and recognize him as an exemplary public servant who lived with integrity, compassion, and dedication.
