This resolution honors the memory of Dr. Richard E. Berryman, a respected dentist and community member from Bolivar, Tennessee, who dedicated over 56 years to his dental practice and was deeply involved in his local community. Born in Hardeman County to Henry Earl and Hazel Keller Berryman, Dr. Berryman was a valedictorian of Bolivar Central High School and went on to earn degrees from the University of Tennessee at Martin and the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. He began his dental career in 1968 under Dr. Harold Fitts and opened his own practice in 1971, earning significant respect from colleagues, patients, and his community. Dr. Berryman was also actively involved in his church, serving as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Bolivar First Baptist Church, and was a member of Gideons International. He enjoyed outdoor activities like hunting and fishing and taught dentistry in Memphis. The resolution acknowledges his loving marriage to Sandra Grantham Berryman and his role as father to sons Chris and Bryan, and ultimately celebrates his legacy of integrity, compassion, and dedication to his profession and community.
