This bill provides $250,000 from the general fund to the legislative service office specifically to plan, design, purchase, and install an electronic voting system in both the Wyoming house of representatives and senate chambers. The proposed electronic voting system must include devices at each legislator's desk that allow voting and vote tabulation electronically, with the capability to display votes cast in the chambers and on the legislature's website and streaming platform. The system must also incorporate robust security measures to ensure that votes are cast only by the intended legislator and have the potential for additional functionality if such features can be implemented within the allocated budget. The electronic voting system will be developed under the legislative service office's direction and must integrate with existing legislative software systems. The funds are strictly designated for this purpose and any unused funds will revert back by June 30, 2026. The bill becomes effective immediately upon completing the standard legislative process for becoming law, as specified in the Wyoming Constitution.
