This bill requires hospitals, health care clinics, and long-term care facilities receiving state funds to submit monthly reports to the Department of Workforce Services about workplace violence, starting August 1, 2025. The reports must detail incidents of violence against health care providers, including the category of the person committing the violence (such as patients, family members, or others), patient-related risk factors (like mental health diagnoses), environmental risk factors, types of incidents (physical assaults, verbal abuse, threats), victims' job types, and specific locations of incidents. The Department of Workforce Services must then compile these reports and submit a comprehensive report to the joint labor, health, and social services interim committee by October 1, 2026, which will include the total number of incidents between July 1, 2025, and July 1, 2026. The bill also requires the Department of Workforce Services to create a standardized reporting form and promulgate necessary rules for implementing the reporting requirements. The bill will become effective on July 1, 2025, with some provisions taking effect immediately upon becoming law.
