AI Summary

This bill establishes the Warehouse Worker Protection Act, which creates comprehensive labor protections for employees working in warehouse distribution centers in Georgia. The legislation requires covered employers to provide workers with a detailed written description of any workplace quotas, including how they are calculated, potential disciplinary consequences for not meeting them, and how performance is monitored through employee work speed data and workplace surveillance. The bill prohibits quotas that interfere with legally mandated breaks, health and safety requirements, or bathroom usage, and restricts employers from using quotas that rank employees against each other or continuously measure their every moment of work. Employers must provide employees with a 15-minute paid break every four hours and offer training on safety procedures. The law also grants employees the right to request records about their work performance, protects workers from retaliation for exercising their rights, and establishes a complaint process through the Georgia Department of Labor. Employers who violate these provisions can face civil penalties up to $5,000 per violation, and employees have the right to file civil actions seeking reinstatement, lost wages, and other remedies. The bill applies to warehouses and distribution centers in specific industry classification codes and will become effective upon the Governor's approval.
