This bill amends the New York General Business Law to ensure that hotels, motels, and other businesses with multi-line telephone systems (complex phone networks used in large organizations) can reliably connect emergency 911 calls. Specifically, the bill requires these businesses to configure their phone systems so that 911 calls can be directly connected to public safety answering points without needing to dial an access code first. If a business cannot modify its phone system hardware to meet these requirements without significant expense, it must instead place a clearly visible sticker near each phone explaining the limitations and providing emergency guidance.
