This bill requires Medicaid in Indiana to provide coverage for group pregnancy services that involve prenatal and postnatal care for groups of 8 to 12 pregnant women. Specifically, the coverage will include four monthly sessions during the second trimester, with each session consisting of 30-40 minutes of individual assessment with a healthcare provider and 60-75 minutes of interactive group learning. During the third trimester, pregnant women will receive at least one meeting every two weeks through 40 weeks of pregnancy, with a similar structure of individual and group components. Additionally, there will be a postpartum meeting at 4-8 weeks after birth for assessment and interactive learning. The bill directs the office of the secretary of family and social services and managed care organizations to provide this coverage, and requires applying to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for any necessary Medicaid state plan amendments or waivers to implement these group pregnancy services. The new coverage is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
