This bill modifies Florida's existing statute regarding wine container size limitations by expanding the types of containers that can be used to sell wine. Currently, wine cannot be sold in individual containers larger than 1 gallon, with exceptions for specific large glass containers and reusable containers. The bill adds "recyclable" to the existing language describing larger containers, which means containers holding 5.16 gallons or glass containers of 4.5, 6, 9, 12, or 15 liters will now be explicitly allowed. The bill maintains the existing provision that qualified distributors and manufacturers can sell wine to each other in containers of any size, and it preserves the requirement that wine sold for off-premises consumption must remain in its original, unopened container. Violating these container size restrictions remains a second-degree misdemeanor, punishable under existing Florida law. The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2025, giving businesses time to adjust to the updated regulations.
