This bill establishes and perpetuates community partnership programs between the state department and the cities of Medical Lake and Lakewood to support community policing efforts around Eastern State Hospital and Western State Hospital, respectively. These programs will receive annual state funding, determined in the biennial budget, to cover anticipated service levels and costs, with a maximum of $750,000 per biennium for each facility, and these funds are separate from any existing appropriations for police services. The bill also mandates that the department collect data on fund usage and police calls responded to by these programs and submit an annual report to the Office of Financial Management and legislative fiscal committees by December 1st.
