This bill amends Mississippi's lobbying laws to require lobbyists to disclose additional information about foreign connections in their registration statements. The bill mandates that lobbyists must now include in their registration statement whether their client is a foreign principal of a foreign adversary, and if so, the name of that foreign adversary. This new requirement is part of a broader set of registration requirements that already include details about the lobbyist, their client, the client's business, and the specific issues being advocated. The registration remains valid for one calendar year, and lobbyists must file within five calendar days of becoming a lobbyist or beginning to lobby for a new client. The new provisions will take effect on July 1, 2025, giving organizations time to prepare for the additional disclosure requirements.
