This bill requires the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) to annually collect and publish more comprehensive and user-friendly data about higher education institutions on its website. Specifically, the bill mandates that SCHEV publish detailed information including tuition and fees, student retention rates, graduation rates, post-graduation wages, the 20 highest-paying baccalaureate and associate degree/certificate programs, and annual enrollment in Fast Forward Programs. The data must be presented in a format that allows easy visual comparison between institutions. Additionally, the bill requires each public and eligible private higher education institution to provide a link to this data on their own websites and make it available to admitted students. Public high schools will also receive a notification template to inform students and parents about the availability of this educational and employment data. The bill aims to increase transparency in higher education by providing students and families with more accessible information about the outcomes and costs of different educational programs, helping them make more informed decisions about college and career pathways.
