This bill amends the Illinois Gambling Act to provide specific provisions for retired sworn law enforcement personnel who were previously employed by the Illinois Gaming Board. The bill allows these retired personnel to either keep their previously issued Board identification cards (which will be stamped with "RETIRED") or receive new photographic identification cards that indicate their separation from service. If a retired law enforcement officer's identification card is lost or stolen, the Board is required to immediately reissue a replacement card upon written request. Additionally, the bill maintains an existing provision that allows retiring investigators to purchase their previously issued badge (which must be marked to prevent confusion with active law enforcement) and their service firearm (if they have a valid Firearm Owner's Identification Card) at replacement value. The purpose of these provisions appears to be to honor and provide continued recognition for law enforcement personnel who have served the Illinois Gaming Board and retired in good standing. The bill takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
