The bill amends existing law to specify that the Liquor and Cannabis Board must accept the Department of Agriculture's accreditation as the sole basis for initially certifying and renewing certifications for cannabis testing laboratories, provided the laboratory has not violated any board requirements. The bill maintains existing requirements that cannabis producers and processors submit representative samples to independent, third-party testing laboratories to ensure compliance with quality assurance and product standards. These laboratories must adhere to quality standards set by the Department of Agriculture and obtain and maintain accreditation. The bill also reinforces the cooperation between the Department of Agriculture and the interagency coordination team to reduce redundancies and effectively implement cannabis testing laboratory regulations. Additionally, the bill preserves provisions for fees collected by the Department of Agriculture to support the cannabis product testing laboratory accreditation program, with these fees to be deposited in the dedicated cannabis account.
