This bill modifies Arizona's wage payment laws by increasing the penalties for employers who fail to pay employees their due wages. Specifically, the bill changes two sections of Arizona Revised Statutes (Sections 23-355 and 23-360) to replace the existing "treble" (triple) damages provision with a new requirement that employers pay five times the amount of unpaid wages when they are found to have violated wage payment regulations. Under the new law, if an employer fails to pay wages owed to an employee, the employee can recover an amount equal to five times the unpaid wages in a civil action.
