This bill establishes a comprehensive early childhood education and child care support program specifically for Prince George's County public high schools. Beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, the county's Board of Education will be required to offer a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program in early childhood education at high schools with pregnancy rates over 1%. These schools must also establish child care centers that exclusively serve children of actively enrolled high school students who register with Child Resource Connect, and provide these services at no cost to students and their families. If a school lacks sufficient space for a child care center, the Board must arrange transportation to another school with such a facility. The bill mandates that the Governor include a $5 million annual appropriation in the budget to support these centers and provide grants to Child Resource Connect. Additionally, the Circuit Court for Prince George's County will collect a $10 fee in child support cases, with the generated revenue remitted quarterly to the county to support child care centers. The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2025, and aims to support teen parents and provide educational opportunities in early childhood education.
