This bill requires hotels and similar public lodging establishments to display posters about human trafficking, which is defined as labor trafficking or sex trafficking of any age, and to provide training to their employees on how to recognize and report it. The training, which can be developed in collaboration with the Attorney General and the Department of Labor, will cover topics such as identifying at-risk individuals, recognizing signs of trafficking, and reporting procedures. Importantly, hotels and their employees who implement approved training and policies will be protected from liability for human trafficking committed by a third party at their establishment, unless they knowingly assist in the trafficking or fail to act reasonably. The bill also repeals existing laws related to human trafficking task forces and training, harmonizing the provisions.
