This bill amends the National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline Notification Act to enhance requirements for posting human trafficking awareness signs. Specifically, establishments will now be required to post multiple signs containing the National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline number (1-888-373-7888) in very specific locations, including all restroom stalls, restroom mirrors, above hand dryers and paper towel dispensers, and other appropriate locations. The signs must be at least 8.5 by 11 inches and must include information about legal protections for human trafficking victims. The signs will be designed by the Department of Labor and Industry, who may consult with victim advocates, and must be posted in English, Spanish, and any other language mandated by federal voting rights laws in the county where the sign is located. The bill also requires licensing authorities to provide notice about these requirements on their websites, and the Department of Labor and Industry must make the sign available for printing online. The new requirements will take effect 60 days after the bill's passage, giving establishments time to comply with the updated posting mandates.
