This bill establishes new continuing education requirements for county board of supervisors and county treasurers in Arizona. By December 31 each year, the training association must submit a report listing officials who attended. County board members who knowingly fail to complete the training may face a $50 civil penalty for each uncompleted hour. For county treasurers and chief deputy treasurers, the bill mandates ten hours of annual continuing education, including at least one hour focused on waste, fraud, and abuse prevention. The education can be provided by government entities, financial institutions, professional associations, or accredited universities, and must cover topics such as investment strategies, cash management, cybersecurity, internal auditing, and accounting principles. Treasurers must submit documentation of completed education by December 31 each year, and those who fail to do so may be subject to a civil penalty of $50 per hour, not exceeding $500, which will be determined by the board of supervisors.
