This bill requires the legislative auditor (an independent government official who conducts financial and performance audits of state agencies) to submit two annual reports to specific legislative committee chairs and ranking minority members. The first report, due by February 1 each year, must detail whether state entities have implemented recommendations from financial audits, program evaluations, or special reviews conducted in the prior five years. The second report, due by July 1 each year, must list the standing committees to which the legislative auditor did or did not present their audit reports in public hearings. Additionally, the bill requires the commissioner of management and budget to submit a report to the legislative auditor by September 1 each year, detailing the implementation status of all audit recommendations from the prior five years, including specific itemization of any recommendations not implemented and the reasons why. To support these new reporting requirements, the bill appropriates $238,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $259,000 in fiscal year 2027 to the legislative auditor, and $41,000 in each of those same fiscal years to the commissioner of management and budget.
