This bill establishes a new distinctive license plate for Hunter Nation, a nonprofit organization, which will be available to Kansas residents who own passenger vehicles or trucks weighing 20,000 pounds or less starting January 1, 2026. Vehicle owners can apply for the special plate by paying a logo use royalty fee between $25 and $100, as determined by Hunter Nation, Inc. The plate will be issued alongside regular vehicle registration, and applicants must apply at least 60 days before their registration renewal. The license plate is non-transferable between individuals, but can be transferred between vehicles owned by the same person. As a condition of receiving the plate, applicants must consent to the division of vehicles releasing their vehicle record information to Hunter Nation, Inc. and the state treasurer. The organization will design the plate in collaboration with the director of vehicles, and annual renewals will require payment of the standard registration fee and the logo use royalty payment. If the annual royalty payment is not made, the applicant must return the special license plate to their county treasurer. The bill aims to provide a specialized license plate option for those who support or identify with Hunter Nation.
