This bill directs the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) commissioner to establish a sex trafficking awareness and prevention program specifically for commercial driver's license (CDL) holders. The program requires a minimum of 30 minutes of training using materials from a nationally recognized anti-trafficking organization and will provide educational resources to trade schools, community colleges, and other institutions offering commercial motor vehicle instruction. The curriculum will cover warning signs of potential sex trafficking and information about reporting suspected trafficking activities. Applicants for commercial driver's licenses will now be required to submit a certificate of completion for this program. Additionally, the bill empowers the DMV commissioner to coordinate with the interagency task force on human trafficking to collect data on trafficking, identify victim support programs, develop recommendations to prevent trafficking, and evaluate the program's effectiveness. The commissioner must also include an annual report on the program's effectiveness.
