For regional charter schools, each participating school district must appoint a board member. Additionally, the bill prohibits individuals from serving as voting board members if they or their family members receive compensation from, are employed by, or are part of the local school board that was involved in the charter school's initial review, approval, oversight, evaluation, or renewal process. These provisions aim to increase local school district oversight and prevent potential conflicts of interest in charter school governance, while ensuring more direct representation from the local educational community on charter school boards.
