This bill amends Mississippi's Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) to provide creditable service and additional retirement benefits for county and municipal election commissioners. Specifically, the bill makes two key changes: first, it allows county and municipal election commissioners to receive creditable service for their terms of office, even though they were previously excluded from such benefits when compensated on a per diem basis. Second, for members who served as election commissioners for at least eight years before July 1, 2025, the bill provides an additional $200 for each full year of service as an election commissioner when they withdraw from service and receive their retirement allowance.
