This bill amends the Texas Tax Code to add school district, open-enrollment charter school, and private school employees to the list of individuals whose home address information can be kept confidential in property tax appraisal records. The bill expands an existing provision that already protects home address information for numerous public safety and government professionals, including peace officers, judges, federal law enforcement, child protective services workers, and others who might be at risk due to their professional roles. By adding school employees to this list, the bill provides additional privacy protection for educators who may face potential personal safety concerns. The bill will take effect immediately if it receives a two-thirds vote in the Texas Legislature, or otherwise will become effective on September 1, 2025. The legislation ensures that the home addresses of school employees will be treated with the same confidentiality as those of other specified professional categories, helping to protect their personal information from public disclosure in property tax records.
