This bill extends the sunset date for a drug and alcohol treatment program at the Bolivar County Regional Facility from July 1, 2025 to July 1, 2029. The program allows the Mississippi Department of Corrections to contract with the facility for a specialized five-year pilot program that can accommodate up to 250 inmates. The program focuses on comprehensive substance abuse treatment, including assessment, intensive rehabilitation, relapse prevention, and post-release transition support. Eligible inmates are those within 18 months of their earned release or parole date, and the facility can remove inmates who are violent or refuse to participate in the treatment.
