This bill amends the Budget Act of 2024 to provide additional financial flexibility and funding for wildfire response and recovery efforts. Specifically, the bill authorizes the Director of Finance to augment appropriations for state departments and agencies up to $1.5 billion, with the first $1 billion able to be implemented immediately. These funds are designated for emergency response activities related to wildfire states of emergency declared in January 2025, including emergency protective measures, evacuations, survivor sheltering, hazardous waste removal, post-fire hazard mitigation, and other actions to protect public health and safety. The bill also updates the index of budget control sections to include new entries for fire response and recovery funding and legal services grant funding. Additionally, the bill expands the list of bills related to the budget to include legislation from both the 2023-24 Regular Session and the 2025-26 First Extraordinary Session. The bill is designed to take effect immediately as a budget bill, providing rapid financial support for emergency response efforts.
