AI Summary
This bill amends the Illinois Public Aid Code to increase the personal needs allowance for residents in certain licensed facilities who are eligible for medical assistance. Currently, the state pays an additional amount to supplement the minimum monthly personal needs allowance to bring the total to $60. Beginning January 1, 2026, the bill will increase this allowance to $90, with annual adjustments thereafter based on the Social Security cost-of-living adjustment. The facilities covered include those licensed under the ID/DD Community Care Act, the Community-Integrated Living Arrangements Licensure and Certification Act, and the MC/DD Act. This means that individuals residing in these facilities who receive medical assistance will have a higher monthly personal needs allowance, providing them with more funds for personal expenses. The bill aims to improve the financial resources available to residents in these specialized care facilities, helping them maintain a higher quality of life by increasing their discretionary spending money.
