Bill Summary
AN ACT to amend the limited liability company law, the business corporation law, the partnership law, the education law and the public health law, in relation to authorizing certain licensed health services professionals to form limited liability companies
AI Summary
This bill expands the ability of licensed health service professionals in New York to form professional service limited liability companies (PLLCs) and professional service corporations, allowing for multidisciplinary practices. Previously, certain professions were restricted to forming PLLCs or corporations with members solely from their own profession. Now, licensed professionals such as physicians (licensed under Article 131 of the Education Law) can form PLLCs or corporations with other licensed professionals from a broader range of fields, including but not limited to dentists, veterinarians, engineers, psychologists, and various therapists, as long as each member is licensed in their respective profession in New York, practices within their scope, and does not interfere with the clinical judgment or practice of others. This change aims to facilitate collaboration and integrated care among different healthcare providers.
