This bill, known as the New York Agricultural Investment Task Force Act, establishes a twelve-member task force to study and assess the future of agriculture in New York State, with the goal of developing actionable recommendations for farm sustainability. The task force will be composed of members with expertise in areas like agriculture, economic development, the environment, and workforce development, with appointments made by the Governor, the temporary president of the Senate, the speaker of the Assembly, and the minority leaders of both houses. The task force will be chaired by the Commissioner of Agriculture and Markets or their designee and will have the authority to request resources from state agencies. They are required to report their findings and recommendations to the Governor and legislative leaders by November 1, 2027, and the task force will automatically expire and be repealed one year after its effective date.
