This bill appropriates $750,000 from the state general fund in fiscal year 2025-2026 to the Arizona Department of Health Services (DHS) to fund a public education campaign about Alzheimer's disease and dementia, specifically targeting rural and underserved urban areas. The DHS must distribute these funds to a nonprofit organization that meets specific criteria: the organization must demonstrate expertise in memory loss and dementia, operate a 24/7 toll-free hotline with interpreter services staffed by master's level consultants who can provide education about Alzheimer's signs, symptoms, decision-making support, crisis assistance, treatment options, and local resource referrals. Additionally, the selected nonprofit must provide care and support for those affected by Alzheimer's and other dementias, and have experience in marketing and public awareness campaigns. By November 1, 2026, the DHS is required to submit a report to the governor, senate president, house speaker, and secretary of state detailing the impact of this public awareness campaign.
