This bill establishes a new distinctive motor vehicle license tag for supporters of the National Guard Association of Mississippi. Mississippi residents can apply for this special license tag by paying their standard vehicle registration fees plus an additional $30 fee at their county tax collector's office. The distinctive tag will have a unique color and design approved by the Department of Revenue and the National Guard Association. Of the $30 additional fee, $24 will be distributed directly to the National Guard Association of Mississippi, $1 will go to the Mississippi Burn Care Fund, $2 will be deposited into the State Highway Fund for road maintenance, and $1 will be credited to a special fund. Applicants must surrender their regular license tag when receiving the new distinctive tag, and up to two license decals will be issued with each distinctive tag. If a distinctive tag is lost or stolen, a replacement can be obtained for a $10 fee, with 5% of that fee retained by the county tax collector. The bill will take effect on July 1, 2025, allowing time for implementation by state agencies and the National Guard Association.
