This bill amends Mississippi law to increase the number of assistant district attorneys (legal assistants) and criminal investigators in the Twentieth Circuit Court District. Specifically, the bill changes Section 25-31-5 to increase the number of legal assistants in the Twentieth Circuit Court District from seven to thirteen, and Section 25-31-10 to allow the district attorneys of the Twentieth Circuit Court District to appoint two additional full-time criminal investigators, bringing their total to three. The bill provides flexibility for funding these positions, allowing district attorneys to seek additional funds from sources such as county boards of supervisors, municipalities, federal grants, or other cooperative agreements.
