This resolution honors James Bobbitt, a dedicated firefighter from the Flower Mound Fire Department who passed away on December 12, 2024, at the age of 50. Born in Springtown, Bobbitt began his firefighting career as a volunteer, earning Rookie of the Year honors, and then joined the Flower Mound Fire Department in 2007, where he was twice named Firefighter of the Year. During his 17-year career, he was known for his skill, composure, and mentorship of young firefighters. After being diagnosed with esophageal cancer, he advocated for adding the disease to the state's list of presumptive cancers for firefighters to help other first responders receive support. The resolution pays tribute to his life of service, recognizes his commitment to protecting his community, and extends sympathy to his wife Amy, daughter Addison, and stepchildren CJ, Rachael, Hillary, and Justin. The Texas House of Representatives unanimously adopted this resolution on March 13, 2025, to commemorate Bobbitt's life and legacy of public service.
