AI Summary

This bill establishes strict regulations regarding the use of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS) insignia, logos, decals, seals, and other identifying graphics. The legislation requires any person, business, or entity seeking to sell, distribute, or use these official graphics to first obtain prior written approval from the Commissioner of Public Safety. To obtain approval, applicants must complete a detailed application providing information such as their full name, business details, address, purpose of use, and any additional information the commissioner may require. The Department of Public Safety will maintain a list of all approved uses, and the commissioner retains the right to rescind approvals at any time without specific cause. Violations of these provisions are considered misdemeanors, with potential penalties including up to 48 hours in county jail and a $1,000 fine for each occurrence. The bill also authorizes the Department of Public Safety to create rules and regulations for implementing these requirements, and mandates that the commissioner provide written notification when an approval is rescinded. The legislation aims to protect the official branding and identity of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety by controlling the use of its identifying graphics.
