This bill revises the composition of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Advisory Council in Mississippi, reducing the number of members from a previous configuration to a new 13-member council. The new council will include specialized representatives such as two EMS educators from different community colleges, one ground ambulance service operator, one air medical services operator, one critical care paramedic, one paramedic, one Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT), one EMT, a consumer representative, a Mississippians for Emergency Medical Services representative, and the Executive Director of the Mississippi Fire Academy. The bill also establishes new term limits, specifying that no member may serve more than two consecutive full terms, and requires a minimum of two members from each supreme court district. Additionally, the bill changes the meeting frequency from annually to monthly and updates provisions for member reimbursement and per diem compensation. The State Health Officer or their designated representative will serve as the ex officio chairman, and the council will continue to advise and make recommendations regarding EMS rules and regulations. The changes will take effect on July 1, 2025, providing a structured update to the council's membership and operational guidelines.
