AI Summary

This bill amends the Illinois Civil Administrative Code to provide automatic 3-month license extensions for specific health care professionals during a public health emergency declared by the Governor. The bill defines "health care professional" to include physicians, dentists, optometrists, physician assistants, and registered nurses/advanced practice registered nurses. Under this legislation, if a health care professional's license is set to expire during a declared public health emergency, the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation will automatically extend that license by 3 months. Importantly, the license renewal fees and the license's expiration date will remain the same as they would have been if the license had been renewed on its original expiration date. This provides flexibility and continuity for health care professionals during challenging emergency situations, ensuring they can continue practicing without interruption or additional administrative burden. The bill is effective immediately, allowing for prompt implementation during future public health emergencies.
