AI Summary

This bill amends the Environmental Protection Act to clarify and expand the regulatory requirements for water main installation projects. Specifically, the bill requires that all water main components, including fire hydrants and valves owned by a public water supply and located in public rights of way or utility easements, must be included in the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) written approval. The bill establishes that the EPA has sole responsibility for design review and permitting of water mains and fire hydrants, and that these infrastructure elements must be installed strictly in accordance with the Agency's written permit. Additionally, the bill mandates that fire hydrants connected to plumbing systems must be installed in compliance with the Illinois Plumbing License Law and its associated rules and ordinances. These provisions aim to standardize and streamline the process for water infrastructure installation, ensuring proper oversight, safety, and adherence to established regulatory standards.
